Discover the Heart of Mad Dreidel Press
Mad Dreidel Press engages children with exciting and engaging narratives, empowering them to embrace their Jewish identity through humor and creativity.
Mad Dreidel Press is an independent children’s publisher founded by Rick Duchalski, a writer and educator based in the Greater Toronto Area. Our books help Jewish children see themselves in stories filled with joy, imagination and pride. Families and educators have embraced our stories, making them favorites in homes and classrooms alike.
At Mad Dreidel Press, we believe in creating an inclusive literary landscape. Our engaging picture books encourage children to dream big, laugh often, and connect deeply with their cultural heritage.

Who’s behind mad Dreidel press?
About Rick Duchalski
Rick Duchalski is the founder and publisher of Mad Dreidel Press, and a writer, educator, and storyteller focused on contemporary Jewish children’s literature. He believes Jewish kids deserve picture books that burst with humour, heart, and a little bit of chaos—the kinds of stories that make classrooms giggle and feel unmistakably Jewish without turning into homework.
Drawing on years as a children’s educator, curriculum designer, and creative writer, Rick builds stories that celebrate the diversity of Jewish life while staying rooted in universal childhood experiences. His characters aren’t teaching lessons—they’re making messes, solving problems, and going on wild adventures.
Rick founded Mad Dreidel Press to expand the bookshelf with more representation, more laughter, and more stories where Jewish kids get to be the stars.

Our Journey

From Inspiration to Imagination: The Story of Mad Dreidel Press
From a single story idea to a growing catalogue, Mad Dreidel Press was built on the belief that representation should feel joyful, not instructional. Each book starts with humor and imagination — and lets Jewish life show up as something kids just get to live.
